Parkwood Hall Co-Operative Academy

Parkwood Hall Co-operative Academy is a highly respected state-funded special educational needs (SEN) school located in Swanley, Kent. Set in a stunning estate, the Academy provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for students aged 8 to 19 with a range of complex needs, including autism spectrum conditions, speech, language and communication difficulties, and moderate to severe learning difficulties.

Parkwood Hall is committed to delivering holistic, individualised education and care. Parkwood Hall provides a rich, nurturing environment that encourages every pupil to reach their full potential. The school is well-equipped with exceptional facilities, including forest school areas and sensory spaces, all designed to support the wellbeing, development and independence of the young people.

As a proud stand-alone Co-operative Academy, the school is built on the values of inclusions, integrity and social responsibility. It fosters a collaborative and supportive culture where every member of the staff team is empowered to collaborate, innovate and contribute meaningfully towards helping young people thrive.

The academy actively embeds a school-wide Positive Behaviour Support framework which underpins its ethos and practices. This proactive, evidence-based approach focuses on understanding the underlying causes of behaviour and teaching alternative appropriate skills to replace challenging behaviours. By addressing the root causes and providing consistent support, the PBS framework aims to cultivate a safe and supportive environment where all pupils can achieve their best.

Parkwood Hall is fortunate to have a vibrant inhouse transdisciplinary team which provides Speech and Language Therapy, Occupations Therapy, Psychotherapy, Music therapy and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). This integrated approach ensures that therapeutic support is woven throughout the school day allowing for truly holistic and responsive care. The team works closely with the wider school to create tailored strategies to engage and support pupils. It is a collaborative, forward thinking environment where professional skills are valued and make a lasting impact on the lives of the young people.
