Speech & Language Therapist
Location: Amersham, Buckinghamshire
Contract type: Permanent Full time 32.5 hours per week. (Part time/flexible working hours also considered).
Salary: Bucks Range 6-7, commensurate with experience (£35,432 - £43,759)
Start date: Immediate Start (Spring Term 2025)
We are thrilled to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our well-established but expanding team at Stony Dean School. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about providing support to neurodiverse children and young adults, and is dedicated to championing communication and language development in young people.
The role will offer variety, with opportunities to mainly support pupils in our Foundation Group where the curriculum and goals are life skills focused. Working knowledge and experience of Augmentative and alternative methods of communication (AAC) including Makaton, Social Stories, Attention Autism and Colourful Semantics is highly desirable for this role.
At Stony Dean School, we place a high value on our integrated approach to therapy for supporting students with diverse communication needs. We have an experienced and flourishing multidisciplinary team that works closely with students, families, school staff, and external agencies to provide universal, targeted, and specialist therapeutic interventions throughout the school day.
The successful candidate will receive excellent supervision from our Therapy Lead and support from our supportive school leadership team. We offer 12 weeks of paid school holidays annually to ensure a healthy work-life balance. Opportunities for a day a week working from home for allocated administration tasks negotiable on appointment.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Stony Dean is an Outstanding Local Authority maintained school for students aged 11-19 years, with a wide range of learning and social communication difficulties. Most students have a diagnosis of speech, language, communication, or interaction disorders. All pupils attending Stony Dean School have an EHCP prior to starting the school.
As a Speech and Language Therapist within the school, you will work closely with the educational team to embed many specialist strategies throughout the school day to best support all pupils. Our pupils access a Universal level of provision, with further targeted and specialist interventions dependent on individual’s needs.
