We have an amazing new opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to work with us at our award winning neurological rehabilitation centre in St Neots. If you are looking for career development to a place where you can really make a positive impact on an individual’s quality of life, then read on…
This opportunity will be ideal for someone looking to progress from a general speech and language therapy role working with adults (either acute or community), into neuro-rehab. The successful candidate will work in an exciting and dynamic environment, providing comprehensive assessment and high quality communication and dysphagia therapy to individuals with a wide range of acute and progressive neurological conditions. You will have the opportunity to work closely with patients, families and staff, and will have access to a wide array of resources and up to date technology. You will also be able to deliver and design staff training, supervise therapy assistants and run therapy groups.
The MDT team are a warm and welcoming group of experts who work closely together and alongside the wider home environment. Continued professional development is actively encouraged within the service – we hold weekly therapy team meetings and in service training. External training and development is encouraged to ensure knowledge is kept up to date and your specialist expertise is developed. Recent service development projects and areas of clinical development include: facial palsy, cognitive communication disorders, respiratory muscle strength training, feeding with accepted risk, end of life care and oral care.
The Speech and Language Therapy team have daily input to the inpatient rehabilitation unit, providing intensive rehabilitation for around 4-6 weeks; and frequent input to those on the long-term nursing and dementia units. Rehabilitation is currently being pushed to the fore and is widely acknowledged as being hugely beneficial to so many people. At Marbrook we work closely and successfully with our CCG partners to support those needing neurological rehabilitation, as well those needing post-COVID specialist input.
Since opening over 5 years ago, The Marbrook Centre has developed a track record of consistently high quality therapy outcomes and positive feedback from individuals and families and our CCG partners on the rehabilitation and care experience.
We put the individual at the centre of their rehabilitation and care, with a significant focus on high quality communication between the staff, the individual and their family. Speech and Language is a vital part of this process and is invaluable in giving a voice to those who otherwise may not be fully heard. We work closely with the medical and care teams, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Clinical Psychologist, who all work within the same building.
