This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing, innovative service that values compassion, integrity, and clinical expertise.Role PurposeAs a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, you will make a key contribution to the autism diagnostic pathway, while also delivering targeted post-diagnostic speech, language and communication intervention.You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess communication profiles, support diagnostic decision-making, and deliver impactful intervention to autistic individuals across a range of ages.Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnostic Assessment
  • Undertake direct assessments including ADOS-2 within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide SLT-specific input to diagnostic discussions and case formulation.
  • Produce clear, high-quality clinical reports summarising assessment outcomes and communication profiles.
Post-Diagnostic Intervention
  • Assess and identify communication needs (pragmatics, expressive/receptive language, social communication, AAC, etc.).
  • Plan and deliver evidence-based SLT interventions (1:1, group or programme-based).
  • Work closely with families, schools, social care and community teams to ensure communication needs are understood and supported.
  • Support transitions and discharge planning when required.
Service Development & Professional Leadership
  • Contribute to service development, pathway design, and protocol improvement.
  • Provide clinical supervision or mentoring to junior SLTs where required.
  • Deliver training packages to education, healthcare and social care professionals.
  • Participate in audits, outcome measurement and research activities.
