Speech and Language Therapist - Relocate to Australia

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Provide therapy across communication, literacy, swallowing, language, and social skills.
  • Complete assessments, Assistive Technology (AT) recommendations, and reports.
  • Collaborate with experienced clinicians across multiple disciplines.
  • Utilize streamlined systems to simplify administrative tasks.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Degree in Speech Pathology.
  • Registration with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) or eligibility.
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC)/Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening Check, Police Check.
  • Driver's licence and reliable car.

Relocation & Registration Information:

  • To practice in Australia, SLTs must be registered with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA). UK SLTs benefit from a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), simplifying the process if already registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Registration Timeline: Typically takes 1-6 months, with most processed in around 6 weeks.

Visa Information - Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417):

  • Duration: 1 year, extendable up to 3 years.
  • Fast processing: 7-30 days.
  • Eligibility includes being aged 18-35 years, holding a valid UK passport, applying from outside Australia, having no dependent children during stay, and proof of funds ( AUD $5,000).
  • As of 1 July 2024, UK citizens can apply for a second and third Working Holiday visa without needing to complete regional work.
