We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to work across our inpatient bedded units and to support our Community Neuro Rehab Team.
The successful post holder will provide communication and swallowing assessment and therapy within an MDT framework in both roles. The team provides input to a wide range of adult clients with acquired and progressive neurological conditions. The Bedded Units provide short-term general inpatient rehab. There will also be an opportunity to work closely with Rehab Assistants, provide training to Nurses and HCA's and participate in the Early Supported Discharge Pathway.
There are opportunities for support and service development across both teams. We have multiple office bases and also provide mobile working devices to allow you to work more flexibly.
You will work autonomously in a variety of settings including the 2 inpatient bedded units, client's homes, nursing homes and outpatient clinics providing evidence based assessment and therapy.
A framework of regular supervision including 1:1, peer supervision, CPD and appraisal is in place. You will have opportunities to work with the wider multi-disciplinary team and to engage in service development and quality improvement. We are committed to supporting your training and development, with supervision from a Highly Specialist SLT.
Main duties of the jobWe are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with experience of working with adults with acquired and progressive neurological conditions. You will be competent in both communication and dysphagia, and you will be keen to learn and to develop your assessment and rehabilitation skills. You will be a team player and patient-centred with excellent communication skills.
