Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist

Job Location: Oakwood College, Dawlish (EX7)

Salary: Between £30,010.50 and £36,250.50 based on 37.5 hours per week, 42 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent - Term Time Only, Will consider Part Time and Full Time

Are you a Speech and Language Therapist who's passionate about making a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of young people?

In this role, you'll be at the heart of supporting learners with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism, helping them build the communication skills that allow them to grow, connect, and move confidently toward independent living, work, and life.

Your day begins with a supportive morning briefing, where you'll share insights and hear updates from our dedicated team. From there, no two days look the same. You might be delivering 1:1 therapy sessions, facilitating small group work, or partnering with teachers in the classroom to embed communication strategies in real time. Every moment offers a chance to empower a learner and strengthen their voice.

You'll also collaborate closely with our onsite creative arts therapist, ensuring a holistic and therapeutic approach to each learner's journey. Protected time is built into your schedule so you can attend multidisciplinary meetings with families, teachers, and external professionals because we know that truly understanding a learner's needs takes a team.

And just as you support others, we're committed to supporting you. You'll have dedicated time for your own clinical development, ensuring you feel confident, resourced, and able to offer the highest standard of care.

A day in the life of a Speech and Language Therapist will involve:

• Taking a trauma informed approach to clinical work. You'll work with a small caseload of learners who will have varying Learning, Communication, sensory processing, and social interaction needs. You'll be able to do this through 1-2-1 support, classroom work and group sessions.
• Working with the wider team to offer the best support to our learners, including our onsite creative art therapists, teachers, and teaching assistants, and taking part in Multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Administration. Whilst doing all your great work with the learners, we'll need you to keep their records up to date and carry out all the administrative tasks you'd expect to come with this role. Don't worry though, during the school holidays you can work from home so that you have the space to do this without it impacting the time you spend with the learners.

To be a successful Speech and Language Therapist, you'll need:

• A recognised Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, along with HCPC Registration and membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language.
• Good IT skills - We'll train you on how to use our systems, but it would help if you had a working understanding of using Microsoft packages like Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
• A full driving licence. Whilst this role is based in a single location, there will be times that you need to attend meetings offsite which would require the use of a vehicle.
