Role Overview

This is an exciting locum opportunity for a Band 6/7 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Young Adults Team in Romford. You will work independently to support post 16 students with speech, language, and communication needs, delivering specialist therapeutic interventions that create meaningful and lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do
  • Deliver speech and language therapy interventions for learners with communication difficulties.
  • Conduct formal and informal assessments, analysing results to design programmes with SMART targets.
  • Provide both 1:1 therapy and group-based sessions in collaboration with teachers and support staff.
  • Develop accessible therapy resources and programmes for wider departmental use.
  • Produce comprehensive reports for annual reviews and maintain accurate case notes following RCSLT standards.
  • Offer advice on communication management strategies to staff, carers, and colleagues.
  • Organise and deliver training sessions and workshops for education staff and professionals.
  • Support and guide parents and carers to ensure the best outcomes for learners.
Requirements / Candidate Criteria
  • HCPC registration.
  • Relevant qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Experience working with young adults or post 16 learners with communication needs.
  • Strong assessment, intervention, and report writing skills.
  • Ability to drive (travel may be required).
  • Experience within educational or multi disciplinary settings.
  • Additional training in specialist communication approaches or tools.
