Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
We have an exciting, Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist opportunity. The post holder will work within school aged services across both Conwy and Denbighshire. Clinical sessions will be agreed on appointment depending on current service needs. This is a 0.6 (3 days) fixed term/second ment position for 12 months. If you are interested in applying for the second ment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for the post.
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with experience of working with children and young people with speech and language disorders. Experience of working with school aged children, in a range of settings is essential for this role. The role would be suitable for Speech and Language Therapists keen for development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- You will work with Team Leaders and colleagues in school aged Speech and Language Therapy services to ensure equity, efficiency and dynamic service delivery.
- You will work with a varied paediatric caseload, working with school aged children, in a range of settings including Primary and Secondary mainstream schools.
- You will be responsible for assessing, and designing intervention for children on your caseload.
- You will work directly with children and young people and provide training, advice and support to school staff and the wider workforce.
- You will work in partnership with families and professionals to support the needs of the children on your caseload.
- You will be involved in projects which contribute to service development.
- You will offer support to colleagues and partner agencies to develop knowledge and skills in working with children with speech and language disorders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy (or HCPC registered).
- Membership of appropriate clinical network group.
- Other professional or academic qualification which relates to clinical practice.
- A range of clinical experience across adult / paediatric SLT services.
- Contributing to student training.
- Evidence of attendance on relevant specialist short courses.
- Delegation to registered staff.
- Experience of leading multidisciplinary/multiprofessional teams.
- Delivering practice supervision.

- £39,263 to £47,280 a year, pro rata.
- Fixed term contract, 12 months, part time (0.6).
