Job Description

Come and join our friendly and supportive speech and language therapy team in the Central Sussex locality. We currently have an opportunity for a fixed term maternity cover Band 6 post working within the Mainstream and Specialist Support Centre (SSC) teams. This would be a varied role with opportunities for delivering therapy alongside completing assessments and reviews.

The Central team consists of 45+ staff working in different clinical areas. The team are friendly, approachable and keen to support each other.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be responsible for managing your own caseload within identified settings, providing assessment, therapy, advice and training as required. An ability to develop strong working relationships with education staff is essential and you will also have the opportunity to work closely with our team of SLT Assistants.

Job responsibilities

To assess, treat and manage own caseload of children with speech, language and communication delay and disorder in specialist area.

To provide advice to other professionals and parentsin order tosupport the needs of children with speech, language and communication delay and disorder in specialist area.

To liaise with other agencies and services e.g. schools, social care, and voluntary agencies.

To advise and provide clinical support to other speech and language therapists

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Qualification/MRCSL
  • HCPC Registration
  • Membership of RCSLT
Other
  • Car owner/driver or suitable alternative
Experience
  • Experience of independently managing a clinical caseload
  • Working in partnership with parents, teachers and other carers/support workers
  • Experience of working within a relevant specialist area and developing specialist packages of care.
  • Inter agency planning, consultation and working
Skills and knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal skills/oral & written communication
  • Well established knowledge of assessment tools relevant to client group
  • Well established knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions relevant to client group.
  • Good negotiation, problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Excellent analytical and reflection skills
  • Knowledge of national policies / legislation relating to relevant clinical area
