Based primarily at Glasgow Royal Infirmary within the North Sector, you will work as part of a dynamic Speech and Language Therapy team supporting patients across acute and rehabilitation settings. The role offers the chance to develop specialist skills in stroke and complex adult caseloads while contributing to high quality, person centred care. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, carers and support staff to deliver safe, effective interventions and improve outcomes. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
  • Full Time, Permanent
  • Base Location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary
  • Shift Pattern: 5 over 7
Key responsibilities
  • Independently assess, diagnose, and manage a varied caseload of patients with communication and swallowing disorders using evidence based approaches
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate individualised treatment programmes, including decision making on discharge from the SLT caseload
  • Provide specialist clinical advice to multidisciplinary teams to support patient centred care and complex decision making
  • Work collaboratively with SLT colleagues, healthcare support workers, and wider MDT to deliver coordinated care pathways
  • Contribute to clinical audit service improvement and quality initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery
  • Maintain accurate patient records and activity data in line with professional, local, and national standards
  • Support education and development by contributing to student placements in service training and team learning activities
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy with current HCPC registration essential
  • Proven experience in adult clinical practice, including assessment and management of dysphagia
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload independently and make clinical decisions within the scope of practice
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex and sensitive information to patients, carers, and MDT
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining an up to date CPD portfolio
  • Knowledge of clinical governance audit processes and evidence based practice
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a team, including participation in the weekend working rota
