Chiltern Wood School educates children and young people with a broad diversity of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Severe Speech, Language and Communication Needs, and Complex Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).
We have exciting opportunities to join our welcoming and creative speech and language therapy team. The team is well-resourced with its own budget for resources and specialist ICT equipment, has a commitment to evidence-based therapy, and works closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team. Therapists collaborate with class teams and parents to embed therapeutic strategies across the day. This includes a high level of direct work with pupils, coaching of class teams within the classroom environment, and frequent opportunities to deliver staff and parent training sessions.
We are seeking to appoint two therapists (Band 5 – 7) and one Speech and Language Therapy Team Lead (Band 8). The Team Lead will hold a caseload and have managerial responsibilities for the team. For all posts, we would welcome applicants who have existing specialist skills in Dysphagia, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), ASC or PMLD. Support and training will be available to develop specialist skills for candidates who have an interest in these areas and clinical supervision is provided to all therapists and assistants. If you would like to find out more or arrange a visit to the school, please contact Helen Sutherland or Sally Jenkins (SALT Team Leads) on 01494 532621.
