Speech and Language Therapist in Specialist Provision

Required from September 2022

Full time - 37 hours,

(We can be flexible and consider more than 1 candidate to cover these hours if part time work is requested)

All year round or term time only will be considered

Permanent post

Grade: PO1 - PO3 (pt. 27 – 34) £32,533 – £39,324

(Band 6 equivalent – we would be prepared to consider a Band 7 equivalent for the right candidate)

West SILC is on an exciting journey and looking to recruit an inspirational and passionate Speech and Language Therapist to lead on developing the communication skills of our pupils. If you, like us, are passionate about improving the life chances of young people, then this could be the right place for you. West SILC is a very successful all age generic special school. We cater for pupils between the ages of 2 and 19 with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities, on specialist sites and mainstream partnership schools. The successful candidate will lead on assessing, planning and delivering high-quality speech and language therapy to our pupils. You will work to facilitate optimum communication skills for all and will train school staff to deliver regular speech and language programmes.


You will offer us:

  • Knowledge and experience of speech and language assessments and interventions appropriate for children and young people with learning disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including observation, listening and empathy
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels, including with learning disabilities and / or sensory impairments, their relatives/carers, and with other staff within the organisation, professionals from other agencies etc.
