Are you a Speech and Language Therapist who loves being hands-on, thinking creatively and making a real difference to young people’s lives?

Blossom House School is opening a brand-new outdoor-learning provision for pupils aged 10–16 with complex social communication needs. Set within a working farm and outdoor environment, this unique setting is designed to help young people build independence, confidence and communication through real-life, meaningful experiences.

We are looking for a passionate and forward-thinking Speech and Language Therapist to
help shape and lead communication support within this exciting new provision.

Why join Us?
This is not a traditional classroom-based role. You’ll be working in a highly therapeutic,
outdoor learning environment where communication is central to everything that happens.

You’ll enjoy:

  • Small caseloads so you can see real outcomes from your work
  • The freedom to design bespoke intervention programmes based on your clinical judgement
  • True multidisciplinary working alongside teachers, OTs, physios, art and music therapists
  • A generous CPD package to support your professional growth
  • 10.6 weeks of paid holiday, including bank holidays
  • A warm, supportive staff culture where wellbeing matters

Plus a range of benefits including healthcare cash plan, wellbeing allowance, free
refreshments, cycle-to-work scheme and more.

About the role

You will be a key part of our transdisciplinary team, helping to create a communication-
friendly environment where every young person feels understood, confident and supported.

You’ll:

  • Assess, plan and deliver speech and language therapy for pupils with complex social communication needs
  • Embed a total communication approach across the setting
  • Use the SCERTS framework to support emotional regulation, social communication and independence
  • Work outdoors with students in real-life contexts – from caring for animals to practical daily living activities
  • Support staff and families with training, guidance and strategies

You’ll be comfortable getting your hands dirty, working with animals, managing risk positively and helping young people try new things safely.

Who we’re looking for
You’ll be someone who:

  • Is HCPC and RCSLT registered
  • Has experience supporting children or young people with autism and complex social communication needs
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative, transdisciplinary team
  • Has a strong interest in functional communication, independence and real-life learning
  • Is confident using AAC and alternative communication approaches
  • Loves the outdoors and sees the value in learning beyond the classroom

Most importantly, you’ll share our belief that young people thrive when they feel safe,
understood and valued.

Early applications are encouraged – we interview as we go.
