About the role
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will support pupils with complex communication needs, helping to embed effective communication strategies across the school.
This is a varied and rewarding role combining:
Direct clinical work
Staff collaboration and training
Whole-school communication support
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering assessment and evidence-based intervention
Supporting staff to embed communication strategies in the classroom
Developing individual communication plans
Contributing to EHCP reviews and multidisciplinary planning
Delivering training and capacity-building for staff
Supporting the development of communication provision across the school
About the pupils
You will support autistic children and young people with complex communication and interaction needs.
Therapy is fully integrated into the educational environment, allowing you to work closely with teachers, support staff, and families to achieve meaningful outcomes.
About you
You will be:
A qualified Speech and Language Therapist
HCPC registered (RCSLT membership or eligibility expected)
Confident supporting children and young people with communication needs
Passionate about autism and neurodiversity-affirming practice
Collaborative and motivated to work within a multidisciplinary team
Experience in SEND or specialist education is beneficial but not essential.
