Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Community

You will work in a community speech and language therapy role within Northern and North East Lincolnshire. This role focuses on general community caseloads, including care homes, domiciliary visits and out patient clinics, and requires specialist work in dysphagia and communication.

Working with a multidisciplinary team, you will have access to weekly Videofluoroscopy clinics at both Scunthorpe General Hospital and Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby, and will receive regular supervision and support for this cross site role.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver expert assessment and management for adults with complex communication and swallowing needs, liaising with others in the MDT
  • Act as an autonomous dysphagia practitioner across community settings
  • Participate in and shape clinical supervision, service improvement, and education, supporting junior SLTs and students as required

You will be based at either Scunthorpe General Hospital or Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby. Access to transport is essential due to site travel and equipment needs.

We are looking for an experienced, compassionate SLT with a specialist interest in community working and a desire to contribute at a senior level while working flexibly.

Person Specification Education & Qualifications
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
  • HCPC Registered
  • Registered member of RCSLT
  • Wide range of CPD activities, especially related to specialist area
  • Postgraduate qualification or training in Dysphagia
Experience & Abilities
  • Able to manage own caseload(s)
  • Experience of teaching other staff
  • Experience of working in an acute and/or community setting with a multi agency team
  • Substantial experience in the assessment and treatment of adult acquired communication and swallowing disorders
  • Member of communication and/or dysphagia CEN
  • Experience of managing staff and other resources
  • Clinical education of students, assistants or other staff
  • Use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems
  • Experience of Videofluoroscopy and/or FEES

  • Access to transport and the ability to travel within the required geographical area

£39,959 to £48,117 a year pro rata per annum - salary dependent on experience.
