Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Acute and ICU

Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) - Acute and ICU We are excited to advertise this Band 6 full-time post at the Royal Berkshire Foundation Trust (RBFT).

Main duties of the job

This post is based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. The post holder will be participating in:

  • Contributing to the acute inpatient caseload, providing assessment, therapy and management plans to service users and their families.
  • Working as part of a team.
  • Providing supervision and support to other members of the team, where appropriate.
  • Contributing to training for other members of the MDT, in relevant areas.
Person Specification Education
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent licence to practice
  • Registered member of RCSLT
  • Registered member of HCPC
CPD
  • Evidence of Dysphagia competencies at level C, such as RCSLT framework or attendance at relevant courses
  • Evidence of successful post-graduate study through CPD portfolio
  • Evidence of competencies in tracheostomy management
Previous Experience
  • At least two years post graduate experience
  • Experience of MDT working
  • Changing own practice in response to evidence
  • Developing and delivery training packages to other disciplines, carers and service users
  • Experience of working in an acute environment
Skills
  • Well established knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools relevant to the specialist area
  • Knowledge of standards of record keeping
  • Awareness of other relevant policies including Vulnerable adult/other relevant legal frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance/audit including RCSLT clinical guidelines
