Senior Speech and Language Therapist - Acute

Opportunity has arisen to join our Adult Speech and Language Therapy team for 12 months. You will provide inpatient services for patients with communication disorders and dysphagia across our two hospital sites at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital.

Main duties of the job
- Assess, treat, and manage SLT inpatients across a variety of wards, including ED if requested, AMU, Critical Care as required, Frailty, ENT, Surgical, Cardiology, Orthopaedic and Respiratory on two sites
- Support the Clinical Team Lead with operational management of the Adult SLT inpatient service
- Deliver training and education to the wider MDT and provide clinical education to SLT students as necessary
- Contribute to service evaluation and quality improvement initiatives as required

Person Specification Qualifications & Training
- BSc/MSc in Speech & Language Therapy
- Valid HCPC registration
- RCSLT membership
- Dysphagia training and competencies
- Evidence of ongoing CPD
- Member of appropriate Clinical Excellence Networks
- Tracheostomy training and competencies
- Head and Neck training and competencies
- Leadership/management training
Knowledge & Experience
- Over 2 years' experience of working with adults with dysphagia caused by a wide range of aetiologies
- Experience of communication impairment caused by a wide range of aetiologies
- Experience of working with complex ethical issues
- Sound knowledge of national policies and guidance and SLT standards of care
- Experience of facilitation of communication for decision making
- Competent with Electronic Patient Records and varying IT systems
- Experience in the supervision of SLT team members
- Experience in supervision of SLT students
- Experience of coordinating and managing an inpatient caseload across more than one site
- Experience of SystmOne
- Experience in an acute hospital setting

Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 a year (Pro Rata Per Annum)
