Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Open at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. You will work in the Community Speech and Language Therapy Team based at Harrogate District Hospital as a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. This role is offered at 0.8 WTE (30 hours) with flexible working arrangements such as reduced hours or job share available for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job
  • Assessment and treatment of adult patients with communication and swallowing needs in the community (including domiciliary visits).
  • Working closely within MDTs and with the wider SLT team.
  • Providing support, supervision and training of junior SLTs and/or SLT assistants as required.

Post holder will further develop specialist skills while managing a diverse community adult caseload, with regular exposure to instrumental swallowing assessment services such as Videofluoroscopy and FEES supported by experienced clinicians.

Person Specification Experience
  • Experience of working as a Speech and Language Therapist incorporating adults with acquired disorders.
  • Experience of working within uni professional and multidisciplinary staff teams.
  • Experience in Videofluoroscopy and FEES.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Independent management of dysphagia.
  • Experience of working with adult neuro patients.
  • Access to own vehicle and driving licence to meet service needs.
  • Experience in progressive community neuro conditions.
  • Experience of training others (SLTAs and/or students).

£39,959 to £48,117 a year per annum pro rata.
