Experienced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

We have an exciting opportunity to offer a 0.6 WTE speech and language therapist (SLT) a 9 month contract to work in the SLT team at the Royal Derby Hospital. The role involves delivering specialist dysphagia and communication services as part of the UHDB SLT team, with a focus on evidence based practice and high standards of patient focussed care.
Job Summary
As a clinical employee, you will provide specialist care for dysphagia patients, demonstrate leadership in developing service provision and clinical pathways, and work closely with a team of over 100 SLT staff across Derbyshire.
Main Duties of the Job
- Provide specialist clinical care for dysphagia and communication services.
- Develop and lead service provision and clinical pathways in this specialism.
- Ensure high standards of patient focussed care and support a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification.
- Registered member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (HCPC).
- Relevant post registration experience, including dysphagia.
- Experience supervising students and assistants, feeding back to training establishments (desirable).
- Membership of relevant clinical education networks (desirable).
Key Skills
- Ability to prioritise caseloads by capacity/demand and explain rationale for decision making.
- Post graduate dysphagia experience.
- Strong team member who can provide mentorship, clinical supervision and second opinions.
- Experience managing patients in critical care and HDU settings (desirable).
