Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and reliable Band 5 acute paediatric speech and language therapist (SLT) to join our dynamic paediatric team.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within the acute paediatric team and manage a delegated and supported caseload of children with a wide range of communication difficulties.
- Provide assessment and management of children with a comprehensive range of communication needs, liaising with the MDT.
- Develop skills in acute paediatric dysphagia management to assess and manage children with eating and drinking difficulties.
- Devise, monitor, and evaluate advice and programmes of care for parents/carers and other professionals.
- Provide education, advice and support to patients, parents/carers, and the wider staff team, using excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Prioritise a busy workload and cope well under pressure, using excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Keep up to date with recent developments and research in the clinical area, contributing to small scale audits and studies as appropriate.
- Participate in training and teaching for other students, ward and other care staff.
Qualifications
- A UK recognised SLT degree with HCPC registration.
- Recent relevant clinical experience from either the hospital/community setting or undergraduate placement settings in both dysphagia and communication.
