Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and reliable Band 5 acute paediatric speech and language therapist (SLT) to join our dynamic paediatric team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work within the acute paediatric team and manage a delegated and supported caseload of children with a wide range of communication difficulties.
  • Provide assessment and management of children with a comprehensive range of communication needs, liaising with the MDT.
  • Develop skills in acute paediatric dysphagia management to assess and manage children with eating and drinking difficulties.
  • Devise, monitor, and evaluate advice and programmes of care for parents/carers and other professionals.
  • Provide education, advice and support to patients, parents/carers, and the wider staff team, using excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prioritise a busy workload and cope well under pressure, using excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Keep up to date with recent developments and research in the clinical area, contributing to small scale audits and studies as appropriate.
  • Participate in training and teaching for other students, ward and other care staff.
Qualifications
  • A UK recognised SLT degree with HCPC registration.
  • Recent relevant clinical experience from either the hospital/community setting or undergraduate placement settings in both dysphagia and communication.
