Bank Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist - NE Surrey
Join HCRG Care Group as a Bank Senior Speech & Language Therapist. You will work at one of our Surrey wide office hubs with flexible/hybrid working. The role involves providing expert assessment, diagnosis, and evidence based interventions for children with complex speech, language and communication needs. You will collaborate with families, carers and a multidisciplinary team.
Job responsibilities
- Carrying out high quality school based assessments as part of the MDT for children and young people.
- Providing support, advice and accessible therapy programmes to children, families and carers.
- Sharing and receiving complex and sensitive information about children's difficulties, progress and expectations.
- Attending, arranging and contributing specialist advice in multidisciplinary meetings.
- Planning, organising and managing therapy services, including supervision, appraisals and training of staff, students and carers.
- Delivering and adapting therapy interventions, both individual and group, across home, clinic and education settings, ensuring evidence based practice.
- Conducting and interpreting complex assessments, contributing to diagnoses, identifying therapy goals and making referrals where needed.
- Maintaining accurate written and electronic records, reports and documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Demonstrating empathy and sensitivity in supporting families adjusting to their child's condition.
- Applying clinical reasoning to assess needs, develop and adapt therapy/management plans, evaluate outcomes and ensure best practice.
- Participating in service development, audits and research projects to enhance clinical practice.
- Maintaining professional development and complying with HCPC and professional body requirements.
- Prioritising and managing caseloads, responding to urgent referrals and deputising for Band 7 as required.

Essential qualifications and experience
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent (post graduate diploma or MSc leading to HCPC registration).
- Knowledge and training in ASD strategies and interventions (e.g. PECS, SCERTS, ADOS).
- Health and Care Professions Council licence to practice (HCPC).
- Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience.
- Member of a relevant Clinical Excellence Network.
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate training, internal or external.
Desirable
- Knowledge or training in PCI, Hanen strategies, educational packages such as ELKLAN or WellComm, and signing e.g. Makaton.
- Demonstrable experience of working in the NHS.
