Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Oak Tree School - Truro. Permanent.
Location: Oaktree School - TR4 9NH.
Salary: Up to £53,200 pro rata (dependent on experience).
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 08:30am - 16:30pm (term time only).
Contract: Permanent.
We offer a £2000 training allowance upon completion of probation to support continuous professional development.
Responsibilities
Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will manage a speech and language therapy caseload with full support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead, and contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registered or similar approved professional body registration
- At least 2 years experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT in a similar setting
- Experience engaging individuals with complex and diverse communication profiles
- Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma informed practice
- Experience of multidisciplinary working in a range of settings
- Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers
- Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SalT practice
- Strong relationship building, analytical and judgmental skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Competence in core areas of SalT practice and understanding of RCSLT communication standards
- Knowledge of SalT assessment tools, intervention types and how to formulate support plans based on needs profile
- Understanding of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management
- Collaborative working ability as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group
- Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication strengths and difficulties
- Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication
- Full driving licence and access to a car (Highly Desirable)
