Job Overview
Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist for Students with Complex Learning Needs, working across two special school sites - Westminster and Hammersmith & Fulham in London. Fixed-term, 12 month contract ending 31 July 2027, full-time 37.5 hours per week.
Salary £38,488 - £46,852 per annum (inclusive of HCAS).
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, intervene and discharge children and young people with severe learning difficulties, including profound and multiple learning disabilities.
- Provide speech, language and communication therapy in line with whole systems approach and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Deliver wide range of school aged intervention packages within community and school settings.
- Support implementation of whole system approach to speech, language and communication needs across the school day.
- Collaborate with education staff, families and multidisciplinary teams to embed communication support.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical notes, reports and comply with RCSLT and HCPC guidelines.
- Manage decision making with children, families and other agencies, recognising legal SEND responsibilities (Children and Families Act 2014).
- Work flexibly across bases and collaborate with cross team working.
Qualifications Education / Qualification
- Degree or equivalent and Licence to Practice - Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Current registered membership of HCPC and RCSLT.
Experience
- Experience working with children in clinics and/or school based settings.
- Experience training others.
- Experience with multi cultural client groups.
