Overview
We are seeking a Band 5 Rotational Speech and Language Therapist to work on the acute and stroke ward. This developmental role will provide training, supervision and a pathway to Band 6 after months.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide assessment and intervention for patients on acute and stroke units.
- Manage dysphagia and support patients in agreed competencies.
- Work as part of a team of 7 speech and language therapists.
- Participate in service development projects.
- Maintain clinical records and comply with professional standards.
- Supervise and train junior staff and students.
- Work in a busy clinical environment under pressure.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Registration with HCPC.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Accredited dysphagia training or willingness to undertake it.
- For Band 5: specialist knowledge of assessments and interventions in acute and stroke settings.
- For Band 6 progression: accredited dysphagia training, completion of newly qualified practitioner competencies and postgraduate experience.
- Experience with adult caseloads, progressive neurological conditions and use of communication aids.
- Knowledge of national policies, research, audit systems and clinical governance.
- Experience with video fluoroscopy protocol.
