We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist education provider for a Lead Speech and Language Therapist to join a growing multidisciplinary team working across specialist school settings.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced therapist with a strong interest in supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside speech, language, communication and social interaction difficulties.
The Role
As a Lead Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a key role in delivering and developing high-quality therapy provision across multiple school sites. You will support pupils to develop communication, emotional regulation and social interaction skills, enabling them to engage more fully in learning and wider school life.
Working closely with education staff, pastoral teams and external professionals, you will contribute to a whole-school approach to communication and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan and deliver specialist speech and language therapy interventions.
- Support pupils with complex speech, language, communication and social interaction needs.
- Develop strategies to promote emotional regulation and positive engagement in learning.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, families and external agencies.
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), reviews and target setting.
- Deliver training and guidance to school staff to support inclusive practice.
- Participate actively in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to service development.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
- HCPC and RCSLT registration.
- Experience working with children and young people.
- Experience or strong interest in SEMH and associated communication needs.
- Understanding of the link between communication, behaviour, emotional wellbeing and learning.
- Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.
