Advanced Speech and Language TherapistClosing date: 16 July 2026
An exciting opportunity to join our service, providing input to inpatient wards across North Cumbria. Flexible band of 22.5-37.5 hours per week. Base for the post is Carleton Clinic, Carlisle.
This role is part of the Speech and Language Therapy Inpatient Team, supporting working age adult and older people's mental health wards across Cumbria, Northumberland, Newcastle, Gateshead, and Sunderland. The team focuses on complex cognitive and functional mental health needs.
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual who can deliver high quality, evidence based assessments and interventions and work well independently and collaboratively.
Main duties of the jobWork collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, service users, carers, and other professionals to provide integrated support for communication and dysphagia needs. This includes assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation, ensuring high quality patient centred care and supporting local teams.
Deliver evidence based assessments and interventions for individuals with complex communication needs and disabilities across varied settings. Share specialist knowledge and skills with colleagues and stakeholders. Provide clinical supervision, support, and leadership to team members as required.

Job responsibilitiesRegular support and supervision will be provided. The incumbent will actively engage in supervision, continuing professional development, and a comprehensive induction programme, alongside ongoing clinical supervision, appraisal, and development reviews.

Person Specification Education and QualificationThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service will be submitted to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £49,387 to £56,515 per annum pro rated.
