Lead Speech and Language Therapist (Adult) - Cromwell Hospital, Kensington, SW5 0TU. Permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week. As a new position, you will help develop and lead the Speech and Language Therapy service in the private hospital's Lexham Gardens site, working with the wider therapies team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the Speech and Language Therapy service, producing an effective, efficient service for all users while maintaining the highest professional and clinical standards.
- Provide staff and operational leadership, including governance and quality improvement initiatives for the SLT service.
- Deliver highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention for adults with speech, language and swallowing difficulties, often with complex needs.
- Provide specialist treatment programmes and write reports for a caseload largely consisting of adult patients with tracheostomies and swallowing needs, across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Carry out video fluoroscopic examinations of swallow, analyse and report findings related to management, and design specialised therapeutic programmes.
- Perform clinical risk assessments and complete risk assessment plans relevant to your caseload.
- Be well versed in the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) and lead its delivery, including training nursing and catering staff and monitoring compliance.
- Provide specialist input into policies and protocols for the management of patients seen by the Speech and Language Therapy team and wider service.
- Maintain up to date clinical written records and collect data in accordance with local and RCSLT professional standards.
Qualifications
- Degree in Speech & Language Therapy with HCPC registration.
- Advanced training in dysphagia management.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
- Desirable: Masters or other advanced professional training and qualifications.
- Member of the RCSLT.
- Member of a specialist interest group.
