We are very excited to be recruiting for a brand-new role! We are seeking a creative, productive, and positive Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) to work with children across all phases of the school (4-19 years).

As the postholder of our first on-site SaLT, you will be a key member of the Therapeutic Team at Rosehill.  You will work under the direction of the Senior Leadership team (SLT), you will be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive speech, language and communication therapy service at the school.

The role involves liaising with a wide variety of other professionals, including class-based staff, in order to provide a comprehensive and holistic service.

We are looking for:

• A qualified SaLT
• Previous experience as a directly employed or school-based therapist
• Proven experience supporting autistic pupils, or complex communication needs
• Somebody who really cares about maximising the life chances of all children and young people
• A sensitive, positive attitude, acting as an exemplary role model who promotes the vital importance of communication
• A team player
• Experience contributing to EHCPs and annual reviews
• Experience delivering training to school staff and parents
• a key member of the Therapeutic Team at Rosehill, who will liaise with a wide variety of other professionals, including class-based staff, in order to provide a comprehensive and holistic service
• Being responsible for devising and implementing pupil-centred communication plans, including at consultation and as new school starters, in association with SLT, pupil's, parents / carers and education staff
• Knowledge of AAC systems and communication support strategies
• Somebody with excellent knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

 Key Responsibilities

To provide high-quality speech and language therapy support to all pupils within our school setting. The post holder will work as an integral member of the school staff team, under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), supporting pupils with speech, language, communication and interaction needs to access the curriculum, develop independence and develop functional, real-world communication skills.

 This role will involve 1:1 work with pupils as well as delivering small group speech and language intervention.

• Identify and assess pupils with speech, language and communication needs using a range of formal and informal assessment tools
• Design, deliver and review individual & group therapy programs aligned with pupils' educational targets
• Embed therapy strategies in everyday classroom practice to maximise impact
• Monitor progress and adapt interventions in response to pupil outcomes
• Contribute written advice and reports for EHCP assessments, reviews and annual reviews, as required
• Development of the curriculum, alongside SLT and subject lead as applicable
• Dynamic risk assessments, and response to the evolving needs of pupils
• Support the development of communication-friendly classrooms and whole-school approaches to speech, language and communication
• Work collaboratively with teachers, TA's and support staff to implement effective communication strategies
• Provide advice, modelling and training to staff to build confidence
• Liaise with parents/carers to share strategies and support continuity between school and home
• Act in accordance with the school's safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures
• Promote inclusive practice and equality of opportunity for all pupils
• Participate in and where required, deliver relevant school meetings, INSET days and professional development activities
• Work co-operatively within the school Multi-disciplinary team
• Contribute to the wide life of the school as a valued member of staff

Professional Responsibilities

• Maintain HCPC registration and adhere to professional and ethical standards
• Take responsibility for ongoing professional development and reflective practice
• Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with school policies and GDPR requirements
