£28,874 - £34,610 Actual Salary

Are you a passionate Speech and Language Therapist looking for a rewarding role supporting children and young people with additional needs?

We are seeking a dedicated therapist to join a specialist educational setting, supporting pupils with Autism, learning disabilities, communication difficulties, SEMH needs, and complex learning profiles. Working within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team, you will help pupils develop the communication skills needed to access learning, build relationships, and achieve greater independence.

The Role

You will:

  • Manage and prioritise your own caseload.
  • Carry out speech, language, and communication assessments.
  • Deliver tailored one-to-one, group, and classroom-based interventions.
  • Develop and review individual communication programmes.
  • Contribute to EHCPs, annual reviews, and multi-disciplinary meetings.
  • Create communication resources, including visual supports and Social Stories.
  • Promote a Total Communication approach across the setting.
  • Support the use of AAC and assistive communication technologies.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and training to staff, families, and carers.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records.

About You

To be successful, you will have:

A Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent)

HCPC Registration

Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)

Experience working with children or young people with learning disabilities and/or Autism

Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team

Strong report-writing, communication, and organisational skills

A commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people

Desirable

  • Makaton or Signalong experience
  • AAC and communication technology knowledge
  • SEMH, PMLD, or complex needs experience
  • Understanding of EHCP processes
  • Trauma-informed practice
  • Post-graduate paediatric experience
