Speech and Language Therapist - Manor Wood School and Avonside School

Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist

Salary: Up to £53,200 FTE DOE (based on experience)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent Term Time only (flexibility can be discussed)

Location: Manor Wood School and Avonside School, Acorn Education brand

Responsibilities
  • Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergent or SEMH needs.
  • Work within OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and other governing/professional body guidelines.
  • Hold a Speech and Language therapy caseload with full support from clinical supervisor and lead clinician.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the education team and multi-disciplinary team, safeguarding culture, student centred approach.
  • Maintain a person centred, empowering approach putting pupils at the forefront of everything.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT.
  • Relevant experience engaging and working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma informed practice.
  • Experience of multi disciplinary working in a range of settings.
  • Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers.
  • Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practise.
  • Good relationship building, analytical and judgmental skills.
  • Good communication skills (oral and written).
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Competence in core areas of SaLT practise and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools, types of intervention and support plan formulation.
  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of the multi disciplinary team.
  • Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group.
  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication and the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
